GREGORY COLLINS JR.

Having 10 plus years of working with at risk youth, Baltimore native Gregory Collins Jr. is nothing short of a change agent. Serving as a mentor through Psychiatric rehabilitation programs, a Case Manager with The Department of Juvenile Services in Baltimore City. An Assistant Site Manager at an afterschool program with the YMCA, Youth Basketball Coach, Teacher Assistant, and now Special Education Teacher giving back and helping the youth and the community is his purpose.

In 2012 Greg received his Bachelors from Stevenson University where he studied Business Relations and Human Services. In that same year, he became a father. Over the years through parenting and being in the community he realized how much of a vital role fathers play in society. As the author of “Black Dads Can” his focus is to stress that importance. In his book, he is speaking to three different people. Those young boys and girls who may not be able to experience the powers of a great dad. Greg believes that seeing real dads in action will open their mind and hearts to receive the mentoring and leadership from positive males in their community. Secondly he is speaking to those fathers who may not be in their children’s lives. He wants to encourage them to become active. Lastly, he is speaking to those who are active. Being a father of three he can tell you first hand that it is not easy. Having to face the world as well as being a provider, leader, and rock for your family is challenging but giving up is not an option.

In the future Gregory, would like to open a Safe Home for at risk youth in Baltimore. His dream now is to change the narrative!
